  • WHO SHOULD I CONTACT IF ...
NUISANCE/SAFETY CONCERNS To report nuisances and share safety concerns, call the Fort Wayne Police Department Desk Sergeant: 260-427-1222. FIRES Recreation fires are allowed at your residence but must meet the following city codes: https://www.fortwaynefiredepartment.org/code-enforcement/recreational-camp-fires If you see that a resident is in violation of the Recreational Fire Ordinance you may call and report this to the Fort Wayne Fire Department at 260-427-1479. If a recreational fire is creating a smoke nuisance for you please ask the resident politely to extinguish their fire. If they do not and smoke continues to be a nuisance for you, you may call the Fort Wayne Fire Department. Keep in mind that when called they are obligated to send personnel and equipment to the residence to have them extinguish the fire. This is costly to us as tax payers and may be a distraction to them from real life safety issues. So please ask the resident first to extinguish their fire before calling the fire department. Life Safety/Property Fires: any fire that creates a life safety concern or real property damage should be reported to the Fort Wayne Fire Department by calling 911. CITY RELATED QUESTIONS/ISSUES City-related questions/issues (code violations, trash and recycling problems, street lights out, potholes, tall grass, cars/trailers blocking streets/drives, excessive barking or dog/pet abuse, garbage in yards/streets): Call 311 or submit your question/issue online at http://cityoffortwayne.custhelp.com/app/Fortwayne/home. Additionally, our dues contribute to the funding of mailings, association property taxes and utilities, insurance, professional fees for legal and accounting purposes, and costs associated with compliance of the Restrictive Covenants to ensure the smooth operation of our neighborhood. These fees also support events that foster a sense of community and improve the overall value and quality of life within Shorewood Neighborhood.
  • WHERE CAN I FIND THE BYLAWS AND COVENANTS OF THE SHOREWOOD COMMUNITY?
The BYLAWS, COVENANTS, and ARTICLES OF DECLARATION documents for Shorewood can be found under the "General Information" tab at the top of this webpage. Our association covenants were designed to protect the aesthetics of our neighborhood, the property values of our homes, and to promote harmony among neighbors. Four of the top covenant violations our neighborhood is facing are listed below: Campers, RVs, boats and trailers are not allowed to be kept at your residence for any length of time other than briefly for the purpose of loading and unloading only. Detached storage sheds are not allowed. Trash and Recycling containers cannot be stored visibly on the outside of your house. They must be kept in our garage or completely concealed by an approved permanent attachment to your house. Any changes whatsoever to the outside of your house and property must be submitted for approval by the Architectural Review Committee. This applies to the house itself, fences, decks, patios, pergolas, driveways, etc. This includes changes to anything existing or for proposed new items.
  • WHEN DO I NEED TO SUBMIT AN ARCHITECTURAL REQUEST?
For any outdoor project that: Alters the exterior of your house and/or property including additions, color and material changes, new roof color and materials, fences, decks, patios, permanent pergolas and deck/patio covers, swimming pools, driveway alterations/additions, permanent retaining walls, etc. See the covenants for your section for additional information of compliance. Landscaping, including ground cover, plants, and edgings do not need approval from the Architectural Control Committee. Please plan your project keeping in mind that The Restrictive Covenants allows up to 30 days for an Architectural review to be completed. However, the Architectural Review Committee will make every effort to complete the review as soon as possible after submission to allow work to begin. HOA approval does not guarantee Allen County City Building Permit Approval. Applicable city permit(s) are still required. Visit http://www.allencountyindiana.org/intro-to-home-projects to learn more! Indoor projects do not need approval from the Architectural Control Committee.
